Surface Excavation Near a Circular Tunnel

This video shows how to use FLAC 7 to create a model for a surface excavation near a circular tunnel. The model is built using the sketch tool and geometry builder. In edit mode a beam interface is created to represent the sheet pile walls, the model is meshed, and material properties are chosen from the built in database.

Examples

Excavation Wall in Sand

In this video, FLAC 7.0 is used to model a retaining wall. First the geometry is created by importing an Autocad drawing. Then the soil is incrementally excavated while supports are added. Soil nails are added first. Then tie backs are added. The tie backs are pretensioned using a FISH function. The result is shown in a plot of structural element axial forces and soil displacement vectors.

Slope Stability Analysis

This video shows FLAC 7.0 being used to run a slope stability analysis. FLAC's geometry and sketch tools are used to build the model. Then three separate Factor of Safety analyses are run on the model.
