Groundwork Consulting (Pty) and Itasca Africa (Pty) Ltd. are pleased to announce the formation of a new company, the Itasca-Groundwork JV, which will enable clients to obtain comprehensive rock engineering solutions from one entity. The two existing companies will also remain fully operational and will continue to provide their current specialized services to clients.
The new JV will provide practical and sustainable rock engineering solutions by integrating geotechnical characterization, numerical modeling, and monitoring of the rock mass and ground support. At present the synergies between these three areas are not adequately integrated because clients have to contract these services from two or three different companies. In order to facilitate the provision of the comprehensive rock engineering solutions, Groundwork Consulting and Itasca Africa are now working from the same premises in the Auckland Park district of Johannesburg.
The new Itasca-Groundwork JV will compliment Itasca's vast experience in rock mechanics, geotechnical evaluations, numerical analyses and software development with Groundwork's extensive capabilities in designing, manufacturing, installing and monitoring instrumentation for the performance of rock masses, mine support.
Should clients wish to contract only one aspect of the available services, Itasca Africa (pty) Ltd, as an independent company, will continue to offer numerical modeling and flammable gas services directly to the mining, civil, and petroleum industries in Southern Africa. Where necessary it will draw on the considerable skills of Itasca's engineers and scientists through the network of Itasca's eleven international offices. Similarly, Groundwork Consulting (pty) Ltd will continue providing geotechnical instrumentation, rock mass monitoring, and ground support consulting directly to the mining industry should this be preferred by clients.
