Itasca Consulting China Ltd.

Itasca Consulting China was created in 2004 and is based in Wuhan, China. Wuhan is a densely populated city in the central eastern part of China approximately 750 kilometers west of Shanghai. It is widely regarded as a geomechanics center with five universities offering courses and degrees in geotechnical engineering. The Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering is located in Wuhan. In addition, Wuhan is located approximately 60 kilometers from the Da Ye mining area — one of China's most important metal mining regions. Also, the largest hydropower design institute in China is located in Wuhan.

Itasca Consulting China (ICCL), like all Itasca offices, offers geomechanics-based consulting services and Itasca software sales and support. To date the office's activities in the technical services area have been related to hydropower station development. As the office develops it is expected that in the near future ICCL will also be able to serve as an entry to hydrogeology studies. In terms of geomechanics, ICCL will extend Itasca's services to the mining and petroleum sectors in China and to include involvement in civil projects to include waste isolation, tunnels and other civil structures.
